Casale il Sogno is located near (5 km.) the medieval village of Pietralunga in Northern Umbria in the ‘upper Tiber valley’ between Città di Castello, Gubbio and Cagli (Le Marche). Our countryhouse il Sogno is situated on a height of 750 m.

Umbria is also known as the green heart of Italy. The area is an ideal environment to spend your holiday because of her overwhelming nature and cities that are not yet discovered by tourists. You can find cultural cities in Umbria, such as Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi and Città di Castello as well as the enclosed lake Lago di Trasimeno. In the adjacent region, Tuscany, you can find more interesting cities such as Cortona, Arezzo, Florence and Siena. In the nearest region, De Marche, the cities worth visiting are Fano and Urbino, as well as of course the Adriatic coast.

Route description
Casale il Sogno is located at approx. 1,450 km from Utrecht and 1,350 km from Brussels and can be easily reached by plane, car and train.

By plane:
You can take the plane from the Netherlands or Belgium to one of the airports in Rome (3 hrs. from Casale il Sogno, Pisa (3 hrs.), Bologna (2.5 hrs), Perugia (45 min.) and Ancona (2 hrs). On most airports, you will be able to rent a car (Avis, Hertz, Europcar, etc).

By train:
During the summer, you can take the “Autoslaap” train in the Netherlands. Every Friday, this train leaves from Den Bosch and brings you to Bologna, where you arrive the next morning, all rested! Two and a half hours later, you will reach Casale il Sogno.

Città di Castello and Gubbio both have railway stations and a good connection with Perugia/Roma.

By car, coming from the north:
Coming from the direction of Milano (A1) you will have to follow the Autostrada A14 (Bologna - Ancona). Take exit Cesena North and follow the E45 in the direction of Roma. After 124 km, take exit Montone - Pietralunga. Subsequently, follow the description under “starting from the exit Montone - Pietralunga”.

By car, coming from the south:
Follow the A1 (Roma-Firenze). Take the exit Orte and follow the E45 in the direction of Perugia - Cesena. After approx. 128 km, take exit Montone - Pietralunga. Subsequently, follow the description under “starting from the exit Montone – Pietralunga”.

By car, coming from the west (Firenze):
Follow the A1 in the direction of Roma. Take the exit Arezzo. After passing Arezzo, follow the E78 and later on the SS221 in the direction of Perugia - Cesena. Near Città di Castello, you will have to turn left to the E45 in the direction of Roma. After 20 km, take exit Montone – Pietralunga. Subsequently, follow the description under “starting from the exit Montone-Pietralunga”.

Starting from the exit Montone-Pietralunga:
Follow the signs in the direction of Pietralunga. Upon reaching Pietralunga, follow the SP201 in the direction of Cagli. 300 m. after the bend in the road at kilometre marker 26 (5 km. after Pietralunga), you will have to turn left and travel up the unpaved road in order to reach Casale il Sogno.

By car, coming from the east (Adriatic coast - Fano):
Follow the E78 in the direction of Roma-SS3-Arezzo-Perugia and after 30 km, follow the SP3. At Cagli, you will have to turn right towards the SP29. Follow the SP201 in the direction of Pietralunga. 700 meter after kilometre marker 27, you will have to turn right and travel up the unpaved road in order to reach Casale il Sogno.
